Luigi Mangione shares jail with disgraced crypto kingpin Sam Bankman-Fried

Luigi Mangione, who is accused of orchestrating the murder of UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson earlier this month, has been transferred to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. This facility is already housing high-profile inmates, including Sam Bankman-Fried, the disgraced founder of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, who is serving a 25-year sentence for fraud.



Mangione, aged 26, allegedly targeted Thompson as part of a premeditated attack motivated by disdain for the healthcare industry. The murder, which took place on December 4 in New York City, sparked widespread shock and led to a days-long manhunt before Mangione's arrest in Pennsylvania. His detention alongside Bankman-Fried highlights the range of high-profile individuals housed at the Brooklyn jail​
